Welcome to Harmonic Works

This is where music, words, and ideas find their way onto a page. Sometimes neatly, sometimes not.

I’m Maurice Hissink — a musician and writer with a persistent interest in the edges of things. The edge between sound and silence, between technology and what it means to be human, between the questions worth asking and the ones that can’t quite be answered yet.

I think carefully, but I’m not an academic. I write about things I find genuinely interesting — music, AI, ethics, meaning, creativity — without pretending to have it all worked out. Curiosity is the starting point. Honesty is the method.

What you’ll find here

A quiet record of things I’m working on, thinking through, and occasionally getting wrong.

  • Music — compositions and experiments under the name Cobold Chrysalis
  • Writing — essays and papers on AI, ethics, music, and the human condition
  • Learning — currently studying academic writing and AI ethics, both humbling in their own way

Why “Harmonic Works”?

Because harmony isn’t the absence of tension. It’s what happens when different things find a way to coexist. That feels like a reasonable description of most things worth doing.

“Every interaction, no matter the medium, is a chance to connect with humanity.”

Glad you stopped by.
