Maurice HissinkCobold Chrysalis

This is where music, words, and ideas find their way onto a page. Sometimes neatly, sometimes not.

I’m Maurice Hissink — a musician and writer with a persistent interest in the edges of things. The edge between sound and silence, between technology and what it means to be human, between the questions worth asking and the ones that can’t quite be answered yet.

Curiosity is the starting point. Creativity is the method.

What you’ll find here

There are many things to discover in this world, and many questions not answered, or many details unknown. That’s okay, I think — but some things are just too interesting to leave alone.

In my books and music, I try to explore more than set things in stone. A little bit like the world seems to work too — you think you know something, and it turns out to be slightly more interesting than you thought.

I’d like to walk with you while we explore various topics, from odd music to computers and AI, and see what we find together. I try to use my interests and whatever I’ve picked up along the way to map it all together — and I think that makes for a fun read, at least.

I’m not here to state new facts or revolutionize the world. I just like to focus on the small things, the things that move us and connect us.

Come, walk with me and see what we can find.

Why “Harmonic Works”?

Because harmony isn’t the absence of tension. It’s what happens when different things find a way to coexist. That feels like a reasonable description of most things worth doing.

“Every interaction, no matter the medium, is a chance to connect with humanity.”
